Frequently Answered Questions

Q: Why do you say you make "standards-first" steel? Does that mean others don't make quality products?

A: Not necessarily. We acknowledge that there are a lot of other companies manufacturing good quality, too. We call ours "standards-first" because we make standard-approved quality products the priority before cost-savings.

A lot of contractors in the Philippines had prioritized lower price in purchasing materials and manufacturers reacted to this price-first attitude by producing sub-standard quality. But we don't agree with that.

We realize that for our developing country to progress into a developed one, we should start by building with a standards-first mindset.

Q: What difference does it make that you use first world tech? Most technology is bought from foreign countries anyway.

A: Good question. You're correct in thinking that most machines/technology used are from other countries. But when we refer to our first world technology, we're talking about the latest machines being used NOW by these developed countries. NOT machines being used 20 years ago, which is common here in the manufacturing field.

That's not to say we don't use these older machines. We still do. It's just that we're relying more on these new technologies than other manufacturers do. What that means is better quality consistency in your volume orders.

Q: Are all of your products literally DTI-approved?

A: No, just all the ones that have set DTI standards. There are some products like our Wire Mesh wherein product standards haven't been officially made yet. The Wire Mesh standards will come soon though. (which is badly needed in the Wire Mesh market out there)

Q: What does a Wire Gauge size (#) represent?

A: It represents the diameter of a wire's body. A higher Wire Gauge, for example, corresponds to a thinner wire diameter. There are actually different tables of Wire Gauge standards namely AWG, SWG and BWG, which we use in the Philippines.

We, at Steelworld, usually refer to this measurement when you're ordering our GI Wire products.

Q: What does a mesh size refer to?

A: Mesh sizes of either Wire Meshes or Cyclone Wires both refer to the holes' dimensions formed in the wire intersections.

For example: if you order a 5.5mm Wire Mesh with mesh size 4x4" and sheet size 6x20', you'll get a sheet of welded BI wires of diameter 5.5mm; square hole intersections in 4-by-4 inches; and 6-by-20 feet overall sheet size.

Q: How do I order? What's your contact details?

A: We created a step-by-step process for your easier understanding. Go HERE. But if you have more questions about ordering, proceed below.
Q: How do 1st-time customers pay? Can it be payment terms?

A: Our payment terms cover a majority of our loyal customers. For 1st-time customers though, we implement C.O.D. (Cash-on-Delivery) terms. But if you want more flexible terms immediately, we'll just ask you to fill-up a credit information sheet. We'll review it. Then, we can re-discuss the terms.

Q: What is SPEC Check? We sample your products before ordering anyway.

A: SPEC Check is what we call our on-the-spot measuring of your delivered products. For example, when we deliver your order of 100 sheets of Wire Mesh size 3.5mm x 2-by-2" x 6-by-20ft, our truck driver will personally pick 1 sample sheet. Then, he will measure the specs and show them to your warehouse checker - to confirm that the mesh size is INDEED 2-by-2" and not 3-by-3".

True, customers usually sample our products before ordering. But we just want to go that extra step to show you that the dimensions/standards of our samples are the same as our actual delivered products.

Q: Is your 2-day after-the-order delivery a guarantee?

A: 2 days is our likeliest delivery fulfillment, as per experience. But we can't guarantee consistent 2-day fulfillment especially for special non-standard orders. We do guarantee that 2 to 4 days is the likeliest. And 5 days is the worst, worst case scenario. If we'll be later than 2, we'll call you when to expect it.

Q: What about your 10-day return allowance? What qualifies as
replaceable?

A: Honestly, we're not strict on the 10-day return allowance. As long as it's not more than 3 weeks and your complaint is not related to external factors (rust caused by rain, deformation by improper stocking in your warehouse), we will replace it. No charge.
